Nowadays mails are so important, So we need to save those mails for our future references, Configuring mail account sin local mail clients which will stores the mails in the local PC which is so useful IF we loss the mails in the server due to server crashes
Mozilla Thunderbird is an user-friendly mail client which will offer all mail functions and its free-one too
You can download the latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird from the Mozilla Official website here
In this post I’m going to explaining the steps involved in configuring mail account using POP3(Post Office Protocol 3) configuration

Step 1:Enter the Basic Information
First of all open the Mozilla Thunderbird Mail Client on your PC, Once it opened Click File >> New >> Existing mail account
Now new pop-up windows will be open and it will ask to enter your name and Mail account Login Credentials
Enter the details as mentioned in the picture above and then click Continue button
Step 2: Manual Configuration Details
Once you click the continue button it will verify the mail server settings automatically by communicating the mail server
But here I’m going to configure with manual configuration of mail server settings, Its not that much hard-one, Mail server settings are so simple
Step 2A : Mail Configuration Requirements:
To configure your mail account using manual configuration you have to know the below details of your mail server
- Incoming Mail Server : Most of the hosting providers will assign mail server as mail.domainname (Ex. mail.example.com)
- Outgoing Mail Server : This will be same as your Incoming Mail Server
- Incoming Port (POP3) : 110 ( Click here to know the familiar port numbers)
- Outgoing Port ( SMTP ) : 25
Okay…!!! Now we can go-ahead for further steps
Now we need to click the Manual Config button on the current pop-up window like below
Step 2A : Entering Mail Server Configuration Details
Now the pop-window will asks you to fill the mail server details such as Mail server (Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server), Port numbers
As we are configuring Non-SSL based mail configuration you have to choose SSL type as None and Authentication type as Normal Password
Yup….!! We filled the all details, So click the Done option to complete the configuration
Ohhh ho ho …!!!! Don’t worry if its ask like as below, Once you hit the Done button
Its just a warning message due to we had configured the mail account using Non-SSL configuration
Now you can complete the Configuration by clicking the Done button
That’s all…..!!!!! We successfully configured mail account using POP3
Its so simple right…….!!!!!!!!!
By the same way you can configure it using IMAP(Internet Message Access Protocol) too
